Projects + ¿ESTÁ BIEN?

In Potosí, the highest city of Bolivia, a Unesco heritage for the beauty of its colonial palazzos and for the history of its mines, there are 4.882 child-workers: minors that live their jobs as an indubitable necessity but also as a possibility of training, children that have their own family, who go to school and have time to play. Some of them belong to an organization called NATs (Ninos y Adolescentes Trabajadores: Child and Adolescent Workers) present in Bolivia, South America and also diffused in other parts of the world, to claim their rights to a dignified job, with working hours and health conditions suited to children, but also to defend the possibility to study and play like all other children. ¿ESTÁ BIEN? Is a project of cultural co-production organized by CELIM Bergamo, the Diocesan Missionary Centre of Bergamo and the DI + Cultural Association, with the aim of collecting funds to sustain the NATs organization in Bolivia. The journalist Elena Catalfamo, the photoreporter Giovanni Diffidenti and the artist Laura Morelli recently spent a month in Potosì gathering stories of children and adolescents who they met. The material collected has given life to an itinerary exhibition, which, through texts, photographs, films and recordings, speaks of the multiform wealth and vitality of a populace of minors occupied in work, but also in daily constructing their own point of view of the world.
